Lagos state accounted for more than 50% of the newly reported Covid-19 infections in the country, as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control ((NCDC) on Monday confirmed 1430 cases and 3 additional deaths from the Covid-19 disease nationwide.
According to NCDC, Lagos State topped the list with 744 infections, followed by Plateau with 100, Oyo with 77 and FCT 75 cases.
The new infections took the tally of infections in the country to 122, 966.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official website on Monday, 25 January, 2021.
The country has so far tested 1,270,523 samples of Covid-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic in Nigeria on 27 February, 2020 and 98,359 people have been discharged.
However, a total number of 619 435 recoveries were recorded in the country yesterday. 435 of the recoveries were from Lagos State, while 184 recoveries were recorded in Kaduna State.
Notably, the 1430 new infections were reported from 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Other states with Covid-19 infections are Nasarawa (74), Katsina (48), Edo (42), Kano (41), Enugu (37), Rivers (34), Ogun (33), Kwara (32), Niger (28), Ebonyi (27), Kaduna (26), Borno (12), Yobe (10), Ekiti (5), and Gombe (1).
Moreover, Lagos State has so far recorded 45,684 confirmed cases, 36,966 have been discharged and 292 deaths have been recorded.
On the other hand, FCT trailed behind with 15,845 confirmed cases, 10,953 discharged and 121 deaths.
Plateau State followed Abuja with 7622 confirmed cases, 6652 discharged and 53 deaths.
The country’s death toll has risen to 1507.
