From Ameachi Prosper (The New Diplomat’s Delta Correspondent)

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Kingsley Otuaro has expressed disappointment over the delay in reaching a logical conclusion in the Delta, Edo and Ondo States boundary disputes, noting that it has lingered for too long.

The deputy governor made this known at the Boundary Commission Office, in Asaba while addressing the Technical Sub-Committee of the Delta State Boundary Committee.

Otuaro, while attributing the delay in the report of the outcome of the disputed boundaries of the three states on negligence and lack of commitment on the side of the National Boundary Committee, implored all concerned not to lose hope, saying that the Okowa-led administration was committed in ensuring better lives for all Deltans.

He however applauded the Technical Sub-Committee of the Delta State Boundary Committee for their efforts so far.

Giving the report of the year 2020, the Technical Sub-Committee of the Delta State  Boundary Committee, the Surveyor General of Delta State, Ebonka Chukwuemeka, said that to urgently ameliorate the challenges faced by our people and communities at the disputed boundaries, the state government need to show greater measure of assertiveness and support to the people and communities within the disputed areas, while calling to order the various companies and establishments operating within the disputed areas.

He said that the state government should not only be seen as carrying out deliberate and systemic presence and control in the disputed area, but interface more with the officials of the National Boundary Commission and office of the Surveyor General of the Federation as there has been a subtle complain that Delta State is not serious in this whole exercise.
