Lt. A.M. Yerima is NOT the Son of Gen. M.M. Yerima

By Farooq Kperogi A social media contact familiar with Lt. A.M. Yerima reached out to me after my last update to say that the young man is not, as I had suggested, the scion of an upper-crust military family. His evidence was convincing. Yet many claims, including those circulated by popular AI chatbots such as…

Wike and Government Magic

By Fred Chukwuelobe I had a hot exchange with one guy who publishes an online newsletter called “Security Monitor.” The bone of contention was SaharaReporters exclusive story which alleged that there was a failed coup. He abused the publication and called it harbinger of fake news. I told him that a quality journalist is not…

In a move signaling a potential end to their high-profile political dispute, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District of Kogi state, has officially invited the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and other distinguished senators to a project commissioning ceremony in her constituency.
Akpoti-Uduaghan’s invitation was conveyed through a personally signed letter, which  Akpabio read during plenary on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
The event, scheduled for Sunday, is part of activities to commemorate her second anniversary as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, focusing on the launch of various constituency projects in Kogi State.
The letter read, in part: ”In marking my second anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow Distinguished Senators to join me for projects commissioning in Kogi State.”
Upon reading the invitation, Akpabio acknowledged the gesture, responding with a brief but warm message: “Congratulations in advance.”
The New Diplomat reports that the development comes amid the strained relationship between Akpabio and Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Recall that Akpoti-Uduaghan publicly accused Akpabio of making unwelcome sexual advances towards her during a visit to his residence in December 2023.
The conflict initially escalated following an altercation over a seating reassignment in the Senate chamber. Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended by the Senate for six months for what the Senate leadership, led by Akpabio, termed “gross misconduct” and “flagrant violation of the rules” related to the seating dispute.
Meanwhile, she has since resumed her legislative duties following the end of the suspension.
