Former Kano State governor and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Sunday received a delegation from Nasarawa Local Government Area who paid him a solidarity visit at his residence in Kano.
Kwankwaso, who shared details of the visit on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle, thanked the group for standing by him at a time he described as politically challenging.
“I expressed my deep appreciation for their courage and steadfastness. Even in the face of recent trials that have tested the resolve of many, they have chosen to remain firm with us-not out of personal interest, but in pursuit of collective progress and the well-being of our people,” he said.
The former governor noted that the visit reflected continued grassroots commitment to the ideals of the Kwankwasiyya movement, which he said remains the backbone of his political philosophy and support base, particularly across northern Nigeria.
Kwankwaso also sought to reassure his supporters that the movement’s vision remained intact, insisting that setbacks would not weaken their collective resolve.
“Together, we remain committed to preserving and advancing the enduring principles of Kwankwasiyya. The journey continues, and victory will come by the grace of God and the will of the people,” he added.
The visit comes amid renewed internal crisis within the NNPP. On Friday, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, alongside 21 members of the State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives, and 44 local government chairmen, reportedly resigned from the party following unresolved leadership disputes and ongoing legal challenges confronting the NNPP.
They are expected to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming days.
