Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State will on Monday, formally register as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This comes after Yusuf resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party last Friday.
This development was disclosed in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, on Sunday.
According to the statement, the governor’s decision to return to the APC was informed by prevailing realities of governance, national cohesion, and development.
The statement noted that Yusuf, who first joined the APC in 2014, had won the party’s primary election for the Kano Central Senatorial seat before conceding the ticket to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
It added that the governor would “formally register as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano on Monday, January 26, 2026.”
The statement further quoted Yusuf as saying that rejoining the APC would strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government and fast-track development in the state.
“Rejoining the APC will further strengthen cooperation with the Federal Government, accelerate infrastructural development, enhance security coordination, and improve service delivery across Kano State,” the statement said.
It also stated that the move would consolidate political stability and unity in Kano.
