Former President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is as the former president vowed to actively promote the party despite recent defections by some of its prominent members.

In a press release issued on Thursday by his former spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari emphasized his loyalty to the APC, the platform that propelled him to Nigeria’s presidency for two terms between 2015 and 2023.

He added that the opportunity to serve Nigeria under the party’s banner was the “highest honour” of his career, and he has no intention of abandoning it.

The statement quoted Buhari as saying: “I am an APC member, and I like to be addressed as such. I will try to popularize the party by all means.

“At present, I have nothing but gratitude for the support that the party gave me before and during my tenure as president.”

This comes after the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai dumped the APC for the Social Democratic Party (PDP).
