The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, publicly rained curses on those supporting his successor-turned-rival, Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.
During the commissioning of the Rivers State chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors headquarters in Port Harcourt, Wike, known for his blunt and often combative rhetoric, did not mince words regarding the perceived “ingratitude” of his former political allies.
Addressing a crowd of supporters, Wike suggested that those who have abandoned him to join Fubara’s camp are committing an act of political treason. He framed the shift in loyalty not as a matter of governance, but as a personal affront.
“Let me tell you one thing, today is the 7th of February, whoever is watching, whether you are a senator, House of Reps member, minister, or governor, and you support betrayals, people will continue to betray you in life. Betrayal is your portion,” Wike said.
The former Rivers State governor went further to invoke a grim fate on those he described as traitors, warning that their end would come swiftly and without mercy.
“You sit down and support those who betray, betrayal is your portion, and the day you will be betrayed, you will not have a mouth to say anything, there you will collapse. You will reap the seed that you planted, you will reap it, whatever you sow you will reap it.”
Emphasising a sense of karmic justice, Wike added: “That is the seed you have planted, and whatever you plant, you will reap. Since you are planting betrayal, betrayal will follow you everywhere.”
Wike also directed his warning specifically at governors serving second terms who, according to him, were plotting to install their preferred successors while supporting betrayal elsewhere.
“Every governor who is doing a second tenure, a governor who has ambition to put a successor and is supporting betrayal, you will never survive it,” Wike added.
“Betrayal will follow you, the day your successor comes in, my own took some months, your own will start immediately, this is what the gods of the land have told me to tell you people,” he declared
His remarks came amid escalating political tensions in Rivers State, where Wike has been locked in a feud with his successor, Fubara.
