The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has joined the ongoing protest at the National Assembly complex in Abuja over the Senate’s rejection of real-time electronic transmission of election results.
Obi joined the protesters, who were comprised of students, civil society groups, some members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the Obidient Movement.
Speaking with the press at the protest ground, Obi, a two-term governor of Anambra State, maintained that the Senate must pass an Electoral Act that mandates real-time electronic transmission of results.
“Allow the elections to go through the normal process. Whoever wins, we would accept,” Obi said as the demonstrators chanted solidarity slogans and songs.
“So, why are you bringing this confusion?”
