Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, has come under heavy criticism on social media after a video surfaced showing him massaging an unidentified woman inside a private jet.
The footage, which began circulating online late Monday, sparked reactions from Nigerians who linked it to recent remarks attributed to the former Edo State governor in which he suggested that food had become cheaper in Nigeria, despite widespread complaints over rising living costs and economic hardship.
Many users on X (formerly Twitter) expressed anger and disappointment, arguing that the video portrayed a lifestyle at odds with the realities faced by many citizens.
One user, 𝕹𝖚𝖒𝖊𝖗𝖔🕊 (@Thetrue_Ohans), wrote that the situation reminded him of George Orwell’s Animal Farm, saying activists often change once they attain power. He noted that Oshiomhole, once known for leading protests as Nigeria Labour Congress chairman, now appeared disconnected from the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.
“This is exactly what the book “Animal Farm” describes, telling you what most of these activists turn into immediately they get a sniff at power. All the things they seem to protest against, they systematically and stylishly enjoy and promote,” he wrote.
“Adams Oshiomole, no one will believe you once protested against the systemic impoverishment of the masses by wicked governments as NLC chairman. Look now, you’ve become one of the politicians Nigerians can easily pelt if push comes up to shoves.”
Another user, BUCOS (@TENIBEGILOJU202), criticised what he described as a display of opulence. “EDO TREASURY IS IN PAIN AS OSHIOMOLE CAUGHT IN THE ACT BY MASSAGING THE LEGS OF HIS SIDECHICK IN A PRIVATE JET… You have now seen why he put that Tegwolo who can barely construct a sentence in English. After all, the man in charge of Edo doesn’t even know the difference between a billion and a trillion once it is written. Nigeria is gone!!!,” he said.
Ella (@Ellasstyl) remarked sarcastically that Oshiomhole appeared to be enjoying himself, referencing his earlier comments about food prices. “Oshiomole enjoying himself, afterall food is now cheap in Nigeria.”
Bimbola (@SamAbims) questioned the senator’s lifestyle, noting that he rose to prominence as a labour leader before serving as governor and now senator, and argued that such displays were inconsistent with his public image.
“Oshiomole has zero right to be living like this. Zero!!! He came into the limelight as a labour union leader. He has no recognizable business or company he’s started. He became a governor and now a senator and started living ostentatiously,” he said.
Emma Ik Umeh (@emmaikumeh) and King Resilience (@kingwizzi_tweet) also joined the criticism, with the latter pointing out ongoing insecurity challenges in Edo State and questioning the optics of the video.
