Anthony Joshua became visibly emotional as he opened up about the pain of losing two of his closest friends in a recent road accident in Nigeria.
In a video shared on Thursday, the boxing champion revisited the fatal crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 29, which claimed the lives of Kevin Latif Ayodele, his personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, his strength and conditioning coach.
“I’ve lost people before. But I don’t think I’ve lost people like that. My left and my right… They were very important team members, very important friends and two of my brothers,” Joshua said, struggling to hold back tears.
The 36-year-old boxer described the devastating incident, which also involved an SUV carrying him that collided with a stationary truck near Lagos, as a life-altering moment.
Joshua’s heartfelt tribute underlined the deep bond he shared with Ayodele and Ghami, highlighting the emotional toll the tragedy has taken on him both personally and professionally.
