The political tension in Rivers State may be showing signs of easing following a late-night intervention by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to a report by The Nation Newspaper on Monday, the President held closed-door talks with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and other key political figures from the state.
Details of the meeting were not disclosed, but the newspaper reported that Fubara accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja, after the discussions at the Villa.
The report further claimed that Fubara allegedly appealed to the minister and pledged not to disrespect him again, a development seen as signalling a possible thaw in the rift between the two influential politicians.
