The New Diplomat, a global think tank devoted policy and energy security dynamics, has felicitated Christians across Nigeria and around the world as they commence the solemn season of Lent, calling for renewed devotion, sober reflection and fervent prayers for the nation.
The organisation in a statement issued on Saturday, congratulated Christian faithful on the beginning of the 40-day spiritual journey, describing Lent as a sacred period of sacrifice, repentance and deeper communion with God.
It noted that Lent offers believers an opportunity to reflect on the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, particularly the virtues of humility, love, forgiveness, and selflessness.
“Lent is a sacred season that calls Christians to genuine introspection and rededication to the will of God,” it said. “It is a time to turn away from actions that diminish our faith and instead embrace righteousness, compassion and service to humanity.”
The organisation urged Christians to use the period not only for fasting and prayer but also for acts of charity, peace and reconciliation, especially in a time when Nigeria faces economic and social challenges.
