The political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections has begun to heat up as leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the South-South geopolitical zone have formally endorsed former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for the party’s presidential ticket.
The endorsement, which took place during a strategic stakeholders’ meeting marks a pivotal moment for the ADC as it positions itself as the primary vehicle for a burgeoning opposition mega-coalition.
Following his high-profile exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2025, Amaechi has rapidly consolidated his influence within the ADC.
Regional leaders cited his track record as a two-term Governor of Rivers State and his performance as a federal minister as the primary reasons for their support.
“We, the ADC South-South leaders, have unanimously agreed to give Rotimi Amaechi our full support for the ADC Presidential Ticket,” Chief John Odigie-Oyegun declared on Friday.
