The Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Joseph Igiagbe Ikpea, has commended the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the successful conduct of its 8th National Convention in Abuja, describing the exercise as a reflection of unity and internal cohesion within the ruling party.
The convention, held at Eagle Square on Friday, produced a new National Working Committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement ratified by party delegates.
Among those returned at the convention was Nentawe Yilwatda, who emerged as National Chairman, alongside other key officials charged with steering the affairs of the party.
In a statement issued by the Senator Ikpea Media Team, the lawmaker congratulated the party leadership for what he described as a peaceful and well-organised convention.
According to him, the consensus-driven process demonstrated growing maturity within the party and a collective commitment to strengthening its internal democratic structures.
Ikpea particularly congratulated Yilwatda on his emergence as National Chairman, urging him to consolidate on the party’s achievements while promoting inclusiveness, discipline and strategic coordination across its structures.
The senator also congratulated other members of the newly constituted NWC, including National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru; National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka; and National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel.
He described their emergence as a reflection of the confidence and trust reposed in them by members of the party.
Ikpea noted that the successful convention represents an important step in repositioning the APC ahead of future electoral contests.
He urged the new leadership to prioritise unity among party members, deepen grassroots engagement and uphold the progressive ideals upon which the party was founded.
The lawmaker expressed optimism that the new NWC would strengthen the party’s organisational structure, enhance internal democracy and sustain the APC’s influence in Nigeria’s political landscape.
He reaffirmed his commitment, alongside other stakeholders, to supporting the party leadership in advancing its mandate and contributing to national development.
