Arsenal emphatically dismantled Leeds United 4-0 at Elland Road on Saturday.
The victory ends a three-game winless run for the Gunners and temporarily extends their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points.
The headlines belonged to Noni Madueke, who was drafted into the starting XI minutes before kick-off. The young winger proved to be the architect of Arsenal’s first-half dominance.
Madueke delivered a pinpoint cross from the right wing, met perfectly by Martin Zubimendi, who headed home to break the deadlock.
In the 38th minute, Madueke’s dangerous in-swinging corner forced a mistake from Leeds keeper Karl Darlow, who inadvertently punched the ball into his own net.
Leeds, who had lost only one of their previous 11 matches, struggled to find an answer to Arsenal’s high-pressing intensity and physical superiority in midfield.
The second half followed a similar pattern. While Leeds showed flashes of intent through substitute Okafor, Arsenal’s backline—led by William Saliba and Gabriel—remained impenetrable.
In the 69th minute, Viktor Gyökeres ended his minor goal drought, sliding home a low cross from substitute Gabriel Martinelli to make it 3-0.
Late substitute Gabriel Jesus added the gloss in the 86th minute. After a clever pass from Martin Ødegaard, the Brazilian outmuscled the Leeds defense and curled a precise strike into the bottom corner.
The win moves Arsenal to 53 points, momentarily putting clear daylight between them and Manchester City. For Leeds, the defeat leaves them on 26 points, six points above the relegation zone as they prepare for a crucial clash against Nottingham Forest.
