Within 24 hours after the Imo State governorship poll on November 11, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced incumbent Governor Hope Uzodimma winner of the election.

From the results announced by the INEC Returning Officer for Imo State, Prof. Abayomi Fashina, Uzodimma candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 540,308 votes to beat Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) candidate Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who came second, polling a total vote of 71,503.

Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP) placed third, garnering 64,081 votes.
