The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Tokunbo Abiru has been declared the winner in the Lagos East senatorial bye-election held Saturday.

The INEC Returning Officer for the by-election, Prof. Ademola Oremosu of the University of Lagos, announced his victory, Sunday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission’s announced Abiru garnered a total of 89,204 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Babatunde Gbadamosi who got a total of 11,257 votes. Abiru won in all the five local government areas in the senatorial district.

Oremosu said: “That Abiru Mikhail Adetokunbo of All Progressives Congress, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
