*Obodo tells terrifying story of how Kidnappers  locked him up in a car’s boot

Jubilation erupted in Warri, Monday as a former Super Eagles player, Christian Obodo, who was abducted on Sunday evening by gunmen in Delta state has been freed by his abductors.

Obodo was abducted by gunmen along the Refinery Road in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State alongside a female friend when he stopped by to buy banana.

It was gathered that both the footballer and the lady friend were released by the kidnappers on Sunday night after paying an undisclosed amount as ransom before he was freed around 10:30pm on Sunday.

One of Obodo’s longtime friends, Big Sam, who on Monday confirmed his release to newsmen in Warri said, “Obodo has been released. He was released last night. I met him this morning. The town is becoming more unsafe. We are glad that he is back home.”

The kidnap incident on Sunday makes it the second time the former Udinese player was kidnapped in the country.

Obodo who recently retired from a football Club based in Greece, was also abducted by unknown gunmen on June 9, 2012, on his way to church in Warri.

Meanwhile, Obodo said he was locked up for hours in the luggage compartment of a car by the kidnappers. According to him, it was not only a terrifying experience but also very discomforting.
