Serving Overseer, Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC) and former presidential candidate, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has described the wanton destruction witnessed after the anti-police brutality protest turned violent in the country, as the rage of the poor, warning the ruling class it was time to start addressing the many issues raised on social injustices across the country.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily, Monday, the pro-democracy activist said unaddressed pains of many years can lead to a combustible reaction from the public.

Bakare warned that more destructive demonstrations may come, should the government refused to, unlike in the past, honestly pursue a social reengineering agenda that would entrench a safe, fair and just system for all the good people.

The cleric who condemned the destruction, said it was clearly the handiwork of hoodlums, but reiterated that its propensity was fueled by accumulated anger, unattended injustices and official corruption and the culture of impunity around it, among others.

The government should sit down and review what it has been doing and how the people have been treated. Time has come for introspection. What we saw in the mayhem that happen is the “rage of the poor. It is unfortunate, but that is what you get when the poor rages.

“It is often said that the fish stinks from the head. I think whatever that have happened for the past days that led to the Carnage and destructions in the country is a product of the country’s political leadership system.

The government must sit back and see that there must be a new way where the public get what they deserve. If they do that, we might we be heading out of the wood, he admonished.
