To ensure fairness and even distribution of infrastructure and employment opportunities among Nigerians, a member of the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Moses Anaughe has strongly advocated strict implementation of the tenets and principles of equity as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
Hon. Moses Anaughe who is representing Delta State in the Federal Character Commission, gave this charge while fielding questions from newsmen in Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State over the weekend.

According to him, in the interest of justice for the masses who constitute the less-privileged population of the country, there must be equity and fairness in the sharing of employment opportunities and even distribution of amenities.
He said: “Federal Character does not only mean equal employment opportunities and infrastructure distribution at the federal level.
“Federal character simply means equitability in the sharing of all opportunities in all facets of governance.

“The federal character principles should therefore be duly respected, followed and practiced at both the state and local government for equity and justice in the distribution of social amenities, jobs and so on.”
The federal commissioner disclosed that he was in Delta State to monitor the success of the ongoing police recruitment exercise, adding that it was to ensure that the state is well-represented and has its fair share.
He however sued for peace in the country and Delta State in particular, promising that he would ensure the state is not shortchanged in the distribution of jobs, infrastructures and other opportunities in the country.
