…As APC Candidate Distances Self From Violence At Obaseki’s Rally

Thousands of Edo residents packed the venues of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Ikpoba Okha, Friday and Oredo area of Edo state, Saturday, as the APC candidate in the state governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu continues to pull mammoth crowd ahead of the September poll.

The APC rallies since the official launching of the Edo guber campaign have been carnival-like.

As Ize-Iyamu and members of his campaign team continue to take their ‘Simple Agenda’ manifesto to the Edo electorate, the message has been loud and clear, resonating among the Edo masses.

Political watchers have said the sea of people gracing the Ize-Iyamu’s campaign events has a direct link to how much, the would-be voters have bought into the APC manifesto in the state.

Meanwhile, the APC governorship candidate has distanced himself from  the violence that broke out at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally on Thursday.

The attackers were said to have shot sporadically and hurled stones at the convoy of Governor Godwin Obaseki at Apana Ward 10, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.

Apana ward 10 is the ward of former National Chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Ize-Iyamu who spoke at a press briefing in Benin on Saturday denied allegations of culpability.

He stated that the APC has been peaceful during its campaigns and would never engage in unruly acts.

“We heard of so much violence during the PDP rally in Etsako-West and they are accusing us for the destruction and shooting. We did not go near their activities.

“We have eyewitnesses of people who committed the act at Apana, Etsako-West. There is no time that we, or our followers have destroyed property belonging to the opposition parties.

“We intend to follow up. We have a list of people involved. They were not policemen, they were known thugs of the PDP”, he said.
