  • Gov Okowa, Wife Go Into Self Isolation

Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, and his wife, Edith have gone into self isolation after one of their daughter tested positive for the deadly Coronavirus disease.

The governor’s daughter was among the 106 Covid-19 cases confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for the State, Thursday night.

Governor Okowa who confirmed this development on Friday morning, said himself and his family, in-line with the laid down Covid-19 procedures, and protocols are going into isolation for the next 14-days.

“Earlier today, Edith and I received the news that one of our daughters has tested positive for Covid-19.

Hence, in-line with the laid out procedures, we’re both going into isolation for the next 14-days. We will continue to keep you all updated,” Governor Okowa tweeted.

As of Thursday, Delta state had 106 cases against 40 in the previous day, bringing a total of 715 cases in the state.

Coronavirus cases in Nigeria had on Thursday escalated higher with 594 new statistical cases. Lagos and Delta states took top positions in the new statistical cases recorded on June 25, 2020.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), till date, the country had confirmed 22, 614 cases of the virus, 7,822 recoveries cases , and 549 deaths recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory(FCT).
