Nigeria has recorded new daily covid-19 figures, with surging statistics now at 627 . This marks a drastic jump from 541 which it was previously on Saturday to 627.
The NCDC in a tweet on Sunday said that the new cases were recorded in seven states, namely Lagos, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Katsina, Akwa Ibom, Jigawa, Bauchi and Borno states.
According to the agency, two states, Jigawa and Borno, recorded their first cases of the infection this Sunday. In contrast, Lagos recorded its largest daily number of confirmed cases since the index case was first confirmed in February this year.
A dynamics of the latest cases show the following: 70 of the new cases were reported from Lagos, 7 from Abuja, 3 in Katsina and Akwa Ibom, respectively , 1 in Jigawa, Borno and Bauchi, respectively.
NCDC said as of “11:50 p.m. on April 19, there were 627 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Nigeria” out of which 170 infected people have allegedly recovered and have been given clean bill of health just as death toll also rose to 21 from 19.
