Mixed reactions have trailed the reaction of Nigerian music artiste, David Adeleke otherwise known as Davido to the fire outbreak at the accountant general’s office in Abuja.

In a tweet, Davido said: “the accountant general of Nigeria to return all the money donated to fight COVID-19.”

Recall that it was reported yesterday that the accountant general’s office was gutted by fire and some people were of the view that it may not be accidental afterall.davido

Singer Davido seems to be on the same page with this group of persons. He therefore called on the accountant general to return all the donations made in cash to help fight COVID-19.

Taking to his twitter handle, Davido said he isn’t asking the accountant general to return all the money because his father donated but rather the accountant general needs to be held accountable.

According to him, the amount his father donated doesn’t mean anything to him but the accountant general needs to account for every single amount donated to fight COVID-19.

Some people responded that following the fire outbreak, records on the donations may have been affected while others said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) warehouses funds and transaction records, and not necessarily the Accountant General’s office.

Meanwhile, the minister of state for budget and planning, Clement Agba, said the fire that gutted the office of the accountant-general of the federation did not destroy any record.

Davido’s father, Deji Adeleke, a multi-billion naira businessman, had donated seven hundred and fifty million naira to the government to help fight coronavirus.

The music star shared the piece of information via his Instagram page on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
