But the dethronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi (SLS), has made him an everlasting hero in the history of Nigeria; when one day, the core North- its elites and almajiri would suddenly wake up to the reality and find its self, drifting and lagging behind the rest of the country.
Sometimes, Nigerian politicians do not realize that power is transient and very temporary. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi will go down in history as perhaps one of the greatest Northerners that has ever lived.
He spoke truth to power and all who cared to listen about the archaic economic and socio-political stance, mentality, decay, failings and the existential threat of his people in today’s world.
But as we all know, the truth is always bitter, particularly coming from one of their own with a privileged background.
Sanusi, finds himself as an eagle amongst chickens.
This day, March 09, may go down in history as one of the blessings in disguise in the history of Northern Nigeria.
Does Sanusi have his flaws? Yes. Certainly like every mortal, he does, but he shouldn’t have been dethroned and especially, banished into exile in violation of his fundamental human rights, as enshrined in the Nigerian constitution for boldly speaking the truth to today’s men of authority and championing the improvement and the emancipation of his people, particularly, the down trodden talakawas.
As it is, every action and reaction are pre ordained and for a purpose. For sure, Nigeria has not heard the last of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. This perhaps, is just the beginning.
