  • State Gov: We’ are Looking into it

Second  Republic governor of former Oyo State governor, Dr. Victor Olunloyo is said to be critically ill, and simply can’t afford to purchase his medical prescriptions. The New Diplomat gathered that the Second Republic governor who defeated late Chief Bola Ige in 1983 to emerge governor of old Oyo State under the then National Party of Nigeria(NPN) is said to be critically down with stroke at his Ibadan home in Oyo State.

Investigations reveal that the financial condition of the former Oyo State governor is reportedly so terribly bad that any little amount of money may just be sufficient to take care of his medical needs at this point in time.  Sources in Ibadan revealed to The New Diplomat  that the health status of Chief  Olunloyo worsened seriously on account of his inability to afford drugs recommended by his doctor.  Insiders also revealed that the attention of the Oyo State government which he served last as governor for three months wasn’t drawn to his condition until now.

The New Diplomat’s reporter’s repeated efforts to reach Taiwo Adisa, Press Secretary to the Oyo State governor were unsuccessful.  Calls to his telephone line rang out. But a staff in Government House confided that the Oyo State government would be looking into the former governor’s situation as it has just “been brought to the governor’s attention.”  Ordinarily, as a former governor, it is not clear if the State governor hasn’t been receiving his entitlements.  Said the insider: “The State governor is looking into it. It has just been brought to his attention a few days back. It would be sorted out.”
