  • Results Validate The New Diplomat’s Poll Survey

Official results declared by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) show that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been hard done by as the All Progressives Congress’ David Lyon is already roaring to victory in the Bayelsa Guber poll.

This is as results from all eight local governments announced showed that the APC has polled a total  352,552 votes to PDP’s 143,172.

With a margin of 209,380 votes, APC is already coasting to victory despite results still being awaited in one local government area.

It’s unclear what’s going on in the PDP camp in the state but a picture has emerged showing Governor Seriake Dickson in a sorry-state. PDP is losing one of its strongholds of all-time since Nigeria’s return to democracy in 1999 into the hands of its fierce rival, the ruling APC.

For instance, in Nembe Local Government Area, APC’s Lyon polled 83,041 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Senator Douye Diri, who scored a paltry 874 votes.

In Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA,  APC polled 8,934 to lose to the PDP, which scored 15,360.

This way, the results substantially validate the outcome of a poll survey conducted by The New Diplomat a month ago.
