The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has supported President Muhammadu Buhari’s stance on punitive measures to deter ballot snatching during elections in the county.

Amosun said this on Tuesday after a stakeholders meeting in Abeokuta ahead of the rescheduled elections.

He said: “Anybody who tries to snatch ballot boxes, cause violence or rig by any means, will face the full wrath of the law.”

According to him, electoral violence and fraud are grave offences, which cannot be treated with kid gloves.

The governor said that some parties have resolved to work together and massively vote for the reelection of the president, irrespective of party affiliation.

The meeting was attended by no fewer than 3,000 leaders of the All Progressives Congress, Allied Peoples Movement and Peoples Democratic Party from the three Senatorial Districts of the state.

Earlier, the Chairman of the APC in Ogun State, Chief Derin Adebiyi, said the meeting was necessary to charge the leaders as well as party supporters ahead of the elections.

Amosun, who also met with the leaders of the Community Development Associations in Ogun Central Senatorial District, who paid him a solidarity visit to express support for the reelection of Buhari and his candidacy for the Ogun Central Senatorial District seat, thanked the members for their support.

He assured that he would continue to give his best towards the growth of the association.

On his part, the Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Gbenga Adenmosun, appreciated the association for supporting the developmental drive of the governor.

The Chairman of CDSs in Ogun State, Alhaji Kolawole Ikuponiyi, appreciated the governor for approving and releasing the N50 million counterpart fund of the state for the Community Social Development project of the World Bank.

Ikuponiyi said the World Bank project will trickle down to the grassroots for over 18 years, thanking Amosun for the gesture.
