Akwa Ibom State Speaker, Right Honourable Onofiok Luke on Sunday had a thanksgiving service to kick start his Federal House Assembly campaign and that of the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar at Qua Iboe Church, in Etinan.
The event was graced with eminent PDP stalwarts within and outside Akwa Ibom State.
The Speaker, Luke said he came to thank God for the opportunity to serve his Federal constituency and committed to God all campaign materials.
Gov Udom Gabriel Emmanuel was represented by the Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State, Uwemedimo Nwoko, DG of Divine Mandate. Other attendees include (Gov. Udom Emmanuel campaign), former Military Administrator of Akwa Ibom State, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga, Senator Bassey Albert, PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, Speakers of Abia, Cross River State and former Speaker of Rivers State, and former Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly who is the Director General of Amazing Grace team for Bar. Onofiok Luke.
“Today was set aside for political parties to flag off their presidential campaign so the Speaker and the leadership of the Amazing Grace team decided to come here to hand over the campaign into the hands of God. Onofiok is doing this because of the fact that some trust in chariots and horses and he believes promotion comes only from God.” DG of Amazing Grace Campaign team and former Akwa Ibom Speaker, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk explained.
Sen. Bassey Albert also commended Speaker Onofiok Luke saying, “the pressing scenarios at the National Assembly needs men like Onofiok Luke, men of courage. With fearless men as Luke there is no way the interest of Akwa Ibom will not be protected. He will bring home the dividends of democracy and in few months from now we will know whose prayers God answered. It will be prayers of God’s people.”
The Attorney General of Akwa Ibom State described Rt Hon Onofiok Luke as “A chick that will grow into a cock can be spotted the very day it is hatched. He use to follow me around in activism, a former student union president. Mister Speaker you have taken another step, there are a thousand and one steps ahead of you. The Governor has given you full support to go ahead and represent the people of Etinan federal constituency in the Green Chamber to redefining of Nigeria as a federation. We need to restructure Nigeria for true federalism.”
