Marwa, A Man of Uncommon Grace at 72

By Femi Babafemi I have had the privilege of knowing Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) for about 30 years. As a young reporter, I observed from a working distance the metamorphosis of a military administrator who was unlike any other—an enigma committed as much to his work as to becoming a paragon of excellence…

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday welcomes the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, the Kwara State Governor, Megida Ahmed Abdulfatah and the Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa, Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto, to its fold.

The party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan says the coming of Senator Saraki, Governor Ahmed and Alhaji Ibeto could not have been at a better time than when the nation requires the input of genuine patriots that will save her from an impending decline.
The main opposition party also noted that the harassment and intimidation the duo of Senator Saraki and Governor Ahmed had suffered from the lords in the disintegrating All Progressives Congress (APC) which they helped to build and nurtured to win elections.

“Senator Saraki, in particular, has conducted the affairs of the Senate in the reflection of the wishes of the silent majority of Nigerians and had emerged a hero of democracy. The party has no doubts that Senator Saraki, Governor Ahmed and Alhaji Ibeto will contribute immensely to the new order that engender good governance in our nation” Ologbondiyan said

The through the spokesman assures all returning members of all the rights and privileges accruable to every member of the party and called on all Nigerians who are desirous of rescuing our nation from the incompetent administration of President Buhari to rally with the party of choice, PDP, ahead of the 2019 elections.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also expresses delight on the return of Saraki and other to the PDP. “I received the news that the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, with great joy. Senator Saraki’s ordeal at the hand of the All Progressives Congress is all too familiar to lovers of democracy in Nigeria and around the world. Leaving a party which maliciously prosecuted him and subjected him to the most degrading treatment, notwithstanding his status as the nation’s number three citizen, took courage, and I commend him” Atiku said.

The former Vice President added that what the APC did to Senator Saraki is what they have also done to Nigeria as a nation. They have degraded our democracy and our economy. “Bukola Saraki is a product of the Peoples Democratic Party, under whose banner he became a Presidential Adviser, Governor and Senator. The PDP’s ideology and political philosophy is conducive to Senator Saraki’s political leaning” he added.
