A youth coalition from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos West Senatorial District has intensified plans to replace the senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Solomon Adeola in the next year’s senatorial election with Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro.

Adeola, who is otherwise known as Yayi was elected on the platform of the APC to represent the district during the 2015 election.

On Monday, notable youths from the senatorial district told newsmen in Ikeja, the state capital, that Obanikoro is the son of the soil, hence the support.

Speaking under the auspices of the Coalition of youths, the coordinator of the group, Ogbeni Babatunde Saidi, said the people of the area had resolved to support Obanikoro to give the district good representation.

He said, “We the Lagos West Youths have not just decided to come out with one voice in favour of the former Minister of Defence, we have decided to harmonise our voices in the interest of the constituents of Lagos West senatorial districts. We are well convinced that Obanikoro is indeed a priority to us all as he holds us to be important as well to him.

“Our coalition has decided and we have spoken what we desire, Obanikoro is the endorsed candidate of our choice. He has helped in various capacities.

In similar development, the Lagos West Youths Alliance (LWYA) of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has also endorsed Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, as its aspirant for the Lagos West Senatorial position in 2019 election.

The Youth Group with stakeholders from  Local Council Development Areas in Oshodi Isolo LG explained that their decision to endorsed Obanikoro, as the candidate among other aspirants from the area was borne in the interest of justice, equity and fairness.

A statement signed by the President LWYA, Hon. Ismaila Abubakar and Secretary Abraham Adekule respectively and made available to journalists, said they are striving hard to ensure that their preferred candidate emerge as the torchbearer of All Progressive Congress APC, in the zone despite the numbers of aspirants that signified their intentions to contest the position.

The group appealed to other aspirants to step down for Obanikoro, who they described as the only aspirant that would deliver without any hindrance come 2019.

According to the statement, the endorsement of Obanikoro is to give a clear message to the teeming supporters of All Progressive Congress, APC, across the Lagos West senatorial district and beyond that, they also stated that “the youths in Lagos West are tired of stagnant leadership of those that were not ready to allow the political evolution, justice, fairness and Democracy to prevail.

“Our support given to the former Minister of Defence, was due to his recognition and contributions to the socio-economy development of Lagos State in particular and the country at large.

“It’s our desire that the APC deserves the most respected leader, agile and enterprise person with ideas and vision to represent the good people of Lagos West at the red chamber and that’s why we are calling on Obanikoro as a matters of urgency to answer the calls of the teaming supporters of our party.”
