A faction of the All progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, ‘APC Kaduna Restoration Group’ has further divided in two.

Aggrieved members of the faction further factionalised the group, appointing a new chairman and a new secretary.

The restoration group is a faction of the APC who were aggrieved by the leadership style governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State. It was set up by Tijjani Ramalan with huge support from a senator, Suleiman Hunkuyi, who is also believed to be a chieftain of the APC restoration group.

In a news conference in Kaduna on Friday, the new chairman of the new faction, Awwal Fatoki, said the decision to leave the Tijjani Ramalan-led APC restoration group was informed by the need to restore the group to its founding ideals.

He said that arrangements have been concluded to initiate a process of reconciliation between members of the group and the APC-led government in the state.

Mr Fatoki, who pointed out that inciting disunity in Kaduna APC must stop, assured that “we shall, Insha Allah, henceforth work towards the success of our party, the APC, in the forthcoming general elections.”

He argued that the group has derailed from it founding ideals.

“The leadership were using the group to pursue personal agendas. They were using it for incitement and deliberate attempts to cause disunity and destabilise the state.

“We have come to the sad realisation that we were being misled into undermining our party and the government that it produced.

In his reaction, a chieftain of the restoration group, Hassan Mohammed, said the aggrieved members who factionalised the group are doing so for selfish reasons.

“They never belonged to the group. We know they are working for the government. They want to cause trouble here but (that) will not change what the restoration group stands for,” he said.
