The Nigeria Police Force has reacted to the trending video showing Ibrahim Idris, Inspector-General of police (IGP), struggling to read a speech.

The force said the video had been doctored.

In the video, widely condemned as an embarrassing development firstly to the NPF and the country, Idris finds it difficult to pronounce his words while reading an already prepared speech, as he constantly repeats “I mean” and “transmission” to the consternation of his audience.

The police force made this known while responding to questions from Dr Adekola Adewale, who asked that: “#AskThePolice I saw a video yesterday on social media about the Inspector General of Police not able to read his own speech. Some of us suspect it is a doctored video, can you clarify that please? Thank you.”

Responding, the Nigeria Police Force said: “Thank you for your question. Yes it was doctored. #AskThePolice”

Meanwhile, Nigerians have been calling on the force to release the undoctored video of the IG reading the speech.
