Kassim Afegbua, the embattled media aide of former military ruler, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida has sued the Nigerian Police to enforce his fundamental human rights, having been declared wanted by the police for issuing a statement purportedly authorized by IBB asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election.
Afegbua is also demanding N1 billion damages from the police, its spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood, National Television Authority and Channels Television for airing claims by the police that Afegbua was a wanted man.
The suit which was filed by his lawyer, Kayode Ajulo, at the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court Tuesday afternoon seeks immediate end to the alleged harassment being meted against him by the police.
Afegbua, last Sunday had released a statement in which Babangida picked several holes in the incumbent administration of President Buhari asking him not to seek second term in office.
However, hours after the release, another statement made the rounds disclaiming the earlier statement by Afegbua causing confusion as the discerning public continue to struggle on which of the two statements originally came from the former military ruler believed to be a master in theatrics.
