The Nigerian economy sustained its upward momentum, recording a real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 4.43% year-on-year in the second quarter (Q2) of 2026.
According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday, the Q2 2026 growth rate shows an uptick compared to the 4.23% recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
The figures underscore a modest yet resilient acceleration in economic activity across key sectors.
The latest report highlights a broad-based expansion across both major components of the Nigerian economy.
The non-oil sector remained a powerhouse of the economy, expanding steadily by 4.3% during the quarter, heavily supported by sustained performance in services and an uplift in agricultural output.
The oil sector recorded a notable growth rate of 7.3% year-on-year, reflecting continued improvements in production output compared to previous years.
Agriculture grew by 4.39%, marking a sharp acceleration from the 2.82% recorded in Q2 2025, signaling positive harvest trends and localized supply chain adjustments.
