The All Progressives Congress (APC) has further solidified its grip on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following the declaration of Daniel Nuhu as the Chairman-elect of the Kwali Area Council.

This victory marks the third council chairmanship secured by the APC in the February 2026 FCT Area Council elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer announced the final results on Sunday morning at the Kwali collation center.

Nuhu, the ruling party’s candidate, has been declared the winner of the Kwali area council election after polling 17,032 votes.

Nuhu defeated his closest rival, Haruna Pai of the PDP, who secured 8,575 votes to place second.

With the Kwali result, APC now controls three of the four area councils declared so far.

INEC had previously announced APC winners in AMAC and Bwari area councils, while the PDP secured victory in Gwagwalada.
