The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Pensioners in Kebbi, Alhaji Usman Dan-Gwari, on Tuesday said the state government had released N7.5 billion for the payment of two years’ gratuities and pension arrears to retired civil servants in the state.

Dan-gwari,  disclosed the release of the money  to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi.

“We believe Gov. Abubakar Bagudu will fulfill his promise by paying the outstanding gratuities and pension arrears.

“Pensioners in the state have been receiving their entitlements regularly; our union appreciates the effort of the governor by putting smiles on our faces,” he said.

He appealed to Bagudu to review upward the pension being paid to retirees to reflect the current salary structure of civil servants in the state.

He thanked the governor for the concern and sympathy to the pensioners and their families.
