The Kaduna Zonal of the EFCC has secured the conviction of a currency counterfeiter Hussaini Baba at the Federal High Court Kaduna. He was convincted in a case of currency counterfeiting to the tune of One Hundred and Eighty Three Thousand, Five Hundred Naira.
Upon his arraignment on the 26th October, 2017 Hussaini Baba had pleaded not guilty to the one count charge against him and the case was adjourned to the 15th, November, 2017 for commencement of trial.
In the course of court proceedings today, prosecuting counsel Sa’ad Hannafi Sa’ad presented two witnesses but the accused’s counsel informed Justice Shuaibu that after due diligence the accused intended to change his plea to that of guilty.
The accused was eventually sentenced to 12 months in prison without option of fine and the judge ordered that the fake money be destroyed by the EFCC.
