Kamala Harris, the immediate past United States vice president has reportedly lost her Secret Service protection after the Trump administration abruptly terminated security coverage that is typically extended to such top personalities who have held high-level.offices, a White House official said on Friday.

The move ends an arrangement approved by former president Joe Biden, which allowed Harris to retain protection for six months after leaving office. That grace period expired on July 21, according to CNN.

A senior aide said Harris was “grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.”

Harris, who has largely stayed out of the public eye since her election defeat, is reportedly set to re-emerge this fall with a nationwide book tour for her memoir, “107 Days.”

The book, set for release on September 23 by Simon & Schuster, promises a candid behind-the-scenes account of her brief presidential campaign against Trump, according CNN.

Harris became the Democratic nominee last year after President Biden exited the race amid concerns over his mental fitness, making her the first woman to head a major party ticket.

The withdrawal of protection comes as the Trump administration intensifies a sweeping crackdown on critics and former officials. In recent months, Trump has reportedly revoked security clearances, targeted law firms tied to past investigations, and cut funding for select universities, reports said.

According to reports, FBI agents visited the home and office of former national security adviser John Bolton, a vocal Trump adversary, as part of a reported probe allegedly involving classified documents.
