Four female students from Nasarawa State University were in the early hours of Tuesday kidnapped from their lodge at Angwan Kare, a settlement of the Keffi Local Government Area in the state.

According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the police public relations officer who confirmed the kidnapping, the State Police Command received a distress call early on Tuesday morning reporting that a house in Angwan Kare had been attacked by armed men.

“The command is aware of kidnapping at about 12:55 am as a distress was received that a house located at Angwan Kaare, Keffi was invaded by unidentified armed men,” Nansel said.

A manhunt has started to rescue the students after efforts to track the perpetrators after searching the area were unsuccessful.

According to Nansel, “The police in collaboration with the military, responded accordingly and combed the area, but to no avail.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits with a view to rescue the victims unhurt.”

The victims are all first-year students of the school identified as Rahila Hanya from Science Laboratory Technology; Josephine Gersho, Computer Science; Rosemary Samuel from Business Administration and Goodness Samuel from Geography departments, respectively.

Tuesday’s kidnapping comes barely four days after no fewer than nine people were kidnapped in an attack on Friday by gunmen in Nigeria’s northwest Zamfara state, according to residents.

Also, 20 students were abducted on Friday, September 22, from Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara but security forces were able to rescue 14 from those kidnapped by armed men after invading Sabon-Gida community of the Bungudu Local Government Area in the state.
