Breaking: Tribunal Upholds Lawal’s Election Victory In Zamfara

The Governorship Election Tribunal for Zamfara State, on Monday, upheld the election of Dauada Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the democratically elected governor of the state.

The judgment was delivered in Sokoto State.

It would be recalled that the former governor, Bello Mattawale, now the Minister of State for Defence, challenged the outcome of the election accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of subverting his victory at the election.

Mattawale in his petition stated that INEC did not include the results of some ward areas, which if added, will give him victory with a wide margin against Lawal.

In the March 18 polls, Governor Lawal defeated Mattawale, who was a former member of the PDP with 377,726 votes against 311,976 votes
