Members of the Delta Central Senatorial District have written a strong letter to President Bola Tinubu in stout defence of their daughter and cabinet pick, Hon. Stella Erhuvwuoghene Okotete, who they allege enemies and detractors are canvassing her ouster as minister.

Okotete incidentally is one of the three screened but yet unconfirmed ministerial picks by the Senate which had stated the related stalemate flows from their non-clearance by the State Security Service, SSS.

The letter reads in part: “We wishes to whole heartedly express our profound gratitude and appreciation to Mr. President for the nomination of our own daughter and sister, Hon. Stella Erhuvwuoghene Okotete as cabinet minister designate.

“This nomination by His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, President of the Federal Republic and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, no doubt reflects the popular choice of majority of Delta State APC faithfuls.

“Her pedigree and track record makes her the ultimate choice to represent Delta State in the Federal Executive Council.

“Therefore, Delta Central APC graciously Lauds Mr. President for the endorsement. She was the last National Woman Leader of our great Party, hence the nomination symbolizes reward for diligent service.

“Predicated on the above, the Delta Central APC feels very uncomfortable with the inconclusive nature of the confirmation of the nominee by the Senate of the National Assembly.

“We therefore seize this opportunity to fervently appeal to Mr. President to wade into and resolve the unexplained imbroglio of her confirmation.

“It is our earnest appeal and hope that Mr. President should take a dispassionate look at the matter and intercede on her behalf as Hon. Stella Okotete has become a veritable symbol of inspiration to the growing number of youths in Nigeria, particularly our women folks, who over years have consistently sought inclusion in the governance structure of our nation.”
