A former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu not to appoint former government officials who were in the immediate past administration of Muhammadu Buhari into his cabinet.

Mr. Sani in a post on his Twitter handle, on Tuesday, said it won’t be a new dawn if Tinubu unconscionable think of rewarding or appointing any former government official who either looted their states or left office with a huge debt burden.

According to him, Tinubu should instead appoint new and independent people into his cabinet and make haste to call members of the defunct cabal, ex-ministers and ex-Governors to give details of how they managed their resources during their tenure in office.

His words, “It will be most unconscionable to think of rewarding or appointing former Governors who looted their states and left their people in poverty and debt into office.

“Two people in detention while the members of the defunct cabal, ex-ministers and ex-Governors are not called to account doesn’t send a good signal about a new dawn.

“Tinubu should do well and appoint new and independent men into his cabinet”

It would be recalled that The New Diplomat on Monday, reported that Senators, G-5 Members, Technocrats, and Others May Make 1st Batch of President Tinubu’s Ministerial List.

Sources close to the president revealed that the first batch of the list will soon be before the Senate while a second list is sure to follow soon after.

The president is required to appoint one minister from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to assist him in running the government.
His predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, appointed 44 ministers with some states getting two ministers.
