Over 767 Nigerian Evacuees comprising students and other nationals already ferried to the Aswan border town would wait longer as the Egyptian government refused to grant landing permit to Air Peace, the airline, designated to airlift the Evacuees to Nigeria.
This was disclosed early Thursday evening by the Air Peace Chairman, Allen Onyema in the Channels TV program, “Politics Today.”
According to the Chairman, all necessary arrangements have been concluded but the Egyptian government has declined to grant landing permit to Air Peace.
Onyema, however, disclosed that the federal government is currently making frantic efforts to rectify the anomaly.
The Chairman who applauded the untiring efforts of the Nigerian Ambassador in Egypt for doing what he described as a yeoman’s job, assured that in the next couple of days, the knotty issue would be resolved
Onyema who frowns at different viral messages on Media platforms, once again disclosed that he was undertaking the risk of airlifting the stranded Nigerians free of charge without receiving any payment from the federal government or organization.
He urged other airlines to join in supporting the federal government in ensuring that her citizens are safely evacuated as the 72 hours ceasefire window granted by the warring factions in Sudan to Countries Evacuate their citizens is gradually coming to an end.
