With less than seven weeks to the end of his administration, Arch Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah has enjoined President Muhammadu Buhari to evaluate himself if he had fulfilled the electoral promises he made to Nigerians before he finally retire to his own Village, Daura, Katsina state.

The Catholic Bishop noted that the President failed to address the security challenges as well as provide the economic prosperity he promised Nigerians during his electoral campaign.

Kukah stated that the ongoing wonton killing of innocent Nigerians by unknown gunmen and regular farmers and herders clash in the north are enough evidence to prove that the President has failed to adequately addressed the security challenges among other problems n his eight years’ administration as he prepares to bow out of office.

In same vein, kukah enjoined the President Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to focus mainly on repairing the psychological damage done to the psych of the average Nigerians at the just concluded general elections.

Kukah observed in dismay that the election has created deep division among Nigerians.

The Catholic Bishop who implored Tinubu to jettison the usual slogans of successive governments that always promised provision of infrastructure, and dividends of democracy.

He stated that only the living would enjoy such facilities if they will be provided.

Hence, he insisted that the President Elect must as a matter of expediency engage more on healing the deep wounds created by the just concluded general elections if Nigeria would continue to exist as a nation.
The Clergyman noted that stomach infrastructure and dividends of democracy are important but the need to create an all inclusive government where every Nigerian would feel secured is more paramount at this time of our democratic development.

In the same way, he expressed gratitude to the Nigerian youths for their active participation in the nation’s democratic process, adding that their involvement has naturally changed the nation’s political narrative.

The Catholic Bishop stated that the youths should always known when to fight and when to retreat.
