The Delta state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) has enjoined the general public and its party faithful to discountance with ignominy a report making rounds in both the traditional and social media that its Governorship candidate in the just concluded nation-wide governorship elections in Delta State and Deputy President of the Senate of Nigeria, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has purportedly been expelled from the party.

In a release titled:” Notice of disclaimer to a bogus publication of expulsion of His Excellency, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress,” jointly signed by the APC Delta state Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie and his Secretary, Surv. Peter Akarogbe, the party described those behind the purported expulsion as rubble rousing impostors from a faceless group, posing as members of the Executive Committee of the party in Delta state.

The Delta State chapter of the ruling APC while strongly lashing, knocking the group for reportedly being used in an attempt to cause disharmony described the group as dubious impostors who are reckless in their publication.

The Delta State chapter of the APC added; ” Consequent on the above, the signatories to the said publication are not only dubious imposters, but very reckless in their publication. In this regard, their claims could cause a breach of public peace and must not be permitted.”

While highlighting the fact that none of the listed members of the faceless group belong to the APC EXCO of Delta State, the party consequently called on the Nigerian Police Force, DSS and other security agencies to ” take note of the wanton rascals and the unscrupulous intent to cause disharmony and a breach of oublic peace.”

Similarly, while reacting swiftly to the report, the National body of the ruling APC described the group which issued the statement claiming Senator Omo-Agege was purportedly expelled from the APC as fictitious, fake and unknown to the APC as a political party.

The Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, who spoke on behalf of the national body of APC said the national body does not recognize the faceless group claiming yo be Executives of the Party who announced the purported expulsion of Senator Omo-Agege from the APC in Delta state.

It would be recalled that an earlier report published by in the media (not in The New Diplomat), had claimed that the Delta State chapter of the ruling APC had announced the expulsion of Omo-Agege in a letter, dated 31 March, 2023.

However, The New Diplomat’s investigations reveal that the signatories to the statement, namely it’s purported Chairman, and Secretary, Mr Ulebor Isaac and Inana Michael, who signed respectively on behalf of the state imaginary Executive Committee of the so-called Delta state APC are, in fact, not members of the EXCO of the Delta State APC.

The New Diplomat’s further checks show that the statement in question was said to have been masterminded by two expelled members of the Delta State APC who were kicked out of the APC ” for alleged anti-party activities as well as for brazenly, openly working against the APC’S presidential candidate, President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and National Assembly candidates in the recently concluded presidential election”. Those reportedly fingered in the alleged anti-party drama and political intrigues include a former member of the House of Representatives, Dr Cairo Ojougboh and a serving chairman of the Board of the NDDC, Mrs Laurretta Onochie.

In an apparent response to these high-stake political misdeeds and unethical behaviour, the Delta State chapter of the APC knocked those behind the misleading report claiming falsely that Omo-Agege was expelled from the party.

In the release signed by the legitimate Delta state APC Chairman and his Secretary, the party urged the general public to disregard and ignore the ” the handiwork of mischief makers.”

In this regard, the Executive Committee declared unequivocally that: “We, the legitimate and only recognized State Executive Committee of the Party, at the National Headquarters, in consultation with all other levels in the chain, hereby disclaim the publication as fraudulent, a ruse and of no consequence.”

The Delta State APC Chairman who described signatories to the said publication that announced the purported expulsion of Omo-Agege as not only dubious impostors, but also very reckless in their publication.

Elder Sobotie who further noted that their claim was capable of breaching public peace, urged the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), DSS and other security agencies to note the wanton rascality and the unscrupulous intent to cause disharmony.

The Chairman, however, implored party loyalists and stakeholders to disregard the publication as being orchestrated by worthless undertaking of men with crooked intentions.

It would be recalled that Dr Cairo Ojougboh, a Chieftain of the party was reportedly expelled by the Delta state Executive Committee of the APC over what it described as his involvement in Anti-party activities.

Dr. Ojougboh was reportedly caught campaigning publicly for the opposition party, the Labour Party, LP in the just concluded presidential election. He was also alleged to have openly campaigned for the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta state.

The APC posited that Hon Ojougboh’s action led to the abysmal performance at the just concluded general elections in Ika axis of the State.
