Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has described as diversionary, Acting President Yemi Osinbajo’s visit to ailing President Muhammadu Buhari in London on Tuesday, saying Nigerians are not being told the truth concerning the President’s health crisis.
Fayose insisted that President Buhari is still in a state of coma and that the Acting President was shocked at what he saw, but chose to say otherwise in a bid to give Nigerians hope and reassurance about the President safe return.
Acting President Osinbajo on Wednesday, after his return from London, had assured Nigerians that the President is “recuperating” and will return back to the country “sooner than expected,” as he attempted to give reassurance, while speaking with state house correspondents.
But, Governor Fayose has strongly disagreed with Osinbajo’s message of hope saying, “I have great respect for Prof. Osinbajo as a leader, but his claim is not true.
“I love him to take me to go and see the President next time when he’s going to see him, Nigerians will believe. Let me tell you the truth, the way the Acting President saw the President, he was shocked, he was worried,” but, “he cannot come back to say that because, he’s the Vice President and more so, he doesn’t know tomorrow.”
“They should take me there, and I will explain everything to Nigerians.
Fayose on a program monitored by The New Diplomat asked the President to be honourable by resigning from his position to attend to his failing health, pointing out that he doesn’t have to be the President at this time considering his health situation.
“Since he left, (it means) he has been away for up to 4 months in about 7 months we have spent in the year. Buhari doesn’t have to be the President till eternity, even if he comes back he should be allowed to rest.
“When President Yar’Adua was seek then, it was this same Buhari that asked him to resign. a man should be honourable and lead by example.
“Today President Buhari is deflated, he’s weak and tired, he doesn’t have capacity any more, it’s only in Africa that men are not honourable.
“The Acting president used tax payers’ money to go and verify (the state of health of the President) and we cannot see ordinary picture or video to back it up,” challenging the Acting President for releasing a video on what transpired at the council of state meeting and failing to show any picture or video of his visit to the President in London.
Stressing on the President’s debilitating health condition in London, he promised to release 11 pictures of President Buhari portraying his deteriorating condition as evidence to back up his strong convictions.
“I have 11 pictures that I want to release now and everything I’m telling you is from there (Buhari) camp majorly. Very soon I will release the pictures. I have said before that the President is in coma and that he’s under intensive care. I cannot hide under the table, I’m the only one giving Nigerians the true information.”
He averred that the Acting President’s visit to London was diversionary and needless and that he has been gagged by certain persons to speak the truth to Nigerians.
“The APC government is being consumed daily. Even he himself (Osinbajo) cannot act in full capacity for fear of the unknown, he is gagged. It’s not his fault. he’s no more a pastor, but as a politician when he sits down, look at the people sitting around him, may God help Osinbajo, that’s our prayer for him,” Fayose said.
