The prolonged legal fireworks at the Osun Election Tribunal that culminated to the sack of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has continued to generate controversy as the two major parties, the Peoples Democratic party, PDP and the All Progressive Congress, APC in the matter are at daggers drawn over the veracity of the judgement.
Though, human rights activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Femi Falana while trying to be dispassionate over the judgement, said that the people of Osun should hold the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC responsible for their current political woe.
Addressing journalist in Osogbo, Osun state capital, the PDP leadership led by the state caretaker chairman, Dr. Adekunle Akindele noted in dismay that the Judge, Justice Tertse Kume abandoned legal argument and submission to dwell on the trivial as the foundation for his pronouncement.
Citing many examples of bias and personal hatred for Adeleke, the party accused the Judge of serving as mouthpiece of the petitioners during the hearing, and the personal attack on the Governor during the ruling, citing the reference of “Buga dance”‘ in the judgement.
“Even if the judgement was way billed to him as we suspected by his petitioners, collaborators, he should have disguised, and exercise some restraints by expunging the foul language obviously written for him in local parlance of Buga lyrics to disrespect an elected Governor. He should not have gone so low, low, low,” Akindele said.
“For us as a party, we understand the desperation of those behind the “jankara” judgement
