Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the United States’ visa ban on individuals accused of undermining democracy in the country ahead of the February 25th presidential election.

Atiku in his reaction on twitter said, “I welcome the United States visa ban on anti-democratic elements whose actions seek to undermine the 2023 elections in Nigeria.

“I encourage other established democracies to follow suit to ensure that there’s no hiding place for the enemies of our democracy.”

In same vein, Former Senator, Shehu Sani, in his words, said, “The US announcement of visa restrictions on Nigerians “undermining democracy” is a welcome development.

“Those working against the upcoming elections by their threats,hate speech,advocating or perpetrating violence to sabotage the election should be affected”.

Also, some Nigerians have taken to twitter handle of the US Mission in Nigeria to call on the authorities to publish names of individuals involved in the latest visa ban.

Excellent decision, deepening Nigeria democracy is not negotiable but I think there could be more measures unlimited to Visa because some may chose Dubai instead of the USA.

If you can’t publish the names of those affected by this restriction, then no need bringing it up here. Eye service.

@YUSamp

Replying to @USinNigeria @SecBlinken and @StateDept Thank you @USinNigeria and @SecBlinken

It’d be nice to publish the names of the individuals as they deserve shame. The deliberate desire to hold the development of millions down is a crime against humanity that should be taken up legally. This is a call for the
@UN
to sit up.
