…Chief Morrison Olori, other PDP bigwigs dump party for APC

The corruption charges against the former vice president and Presidential Hopeful of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, are not in any way abating as the Deputy President of the ninth Senate and governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Delta state, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, (CFR) has probed Atiku’s alleged involvement in selling the Delta Steel Complex at a pantry sum of $30m during his tenure in office as the Vice President of Nigeria.

The Delta state APC Governorship hopeful who made the surprising disclosure on Thursday at the ongoing ward to ward campaigns at Orhuwhorun, Enerhen and Ugboroke, also noted in dismay that the sale of DSC destroyed the economic livelihood of the region.

According to the Senator, the Delta Steel Complex was set up with the sum of $1.5 billion by the then Alhaji Shehu Shagari-led administration in 1980, but the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration inexplicably sold it off at a paltry sum of $30m under the supervision of Atiku Abubakar.

He described the current situation at the moribund DSC as unacceptable, because it has impacted negatively on the economic livelihood of people in the area, and promised to revisit the issue when he becomes governor.

“We need companies that would create jobs for our youths. Hence, I will revisit the DSC issue when I become governor. The era of PDP is gone, the era of Okowa and Sheriff is past.

“Now we need a new government that has concern for the interest of the people. I commit to you that I will construct a bridge from Enerhen waterside to Opete. I also commit that when I become governor, I will construct a flyover at Enerhen Junction to decongest the traffic there.”

The APC mega rally also witnessed high profile members of the PDP, among who are billionaire businessmen, Chief Morrison Olori; former Education Commissioner, Mrs Veronica Ogbuagu; and Engr John Uviejitobor decamped to the APC

It would be recalled that the All Progressive Congress’s (APC), on Wednesday, called on Atiku Abubakar to respond accordingly to the leaked audio conversation he had with a former aide, Michael Achimugu on special purpose vehicles, (SPV) used to designated funds stolen during the process to political allies to fund the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) activities without traces.
